Hike description:
Hot, humid, buggy day. But we were still glad to get out hiking! We have a new hiking app which tells us how far away various things are on the trail - water sources, views, shelters, etc. I love it! Especially the part about the water sources. It covers streams that you don't see on the map. Well, some of the streams are seasonal, but it does indicate which water sources are reliable. This is really useful when hiking on a hot day, especially with dogs. We only brought Trek today, Moxie took the day off. Usually Trek only carries a liter of water, but today he needed more. This wasn't a difficult day of hiking, but the humidity was brutal. We stopped at the shelter. Glen went steeply down .2 miles from the shelter to filter water. We were drinking a lot. I rested and talked to a hiker "CR" who was spending the week hiking with his thru hiker nephew. Trek had fun exploring the shelter and getting attention from the other hikers.
